LinkedIn banner: do this, not that
The rules for a banner that works for you.
Do
- Say what you do and for whom, in one sentence
- Keep the text on the right: your photo hides the bottom left
- 2 lines at most, readable on mobile
- Add a short proof point: a number, a result
- Pick colors that go with your photo
- Put your website or offer in small print
- Update your banner when your offer changes
Don’t
- Text under your profile photo
- A logo alone, with no message
- Too much text: unreadable on mobile
- A blurry image or one smaller than 1584 × 396
- A landscape unrelated to your job
- Repeating your LinkedIn headline word for word
- Colors that clash with your photo
